Fencing, the art of swordsmanship,
has been around for centuries. First, the goal was to
train for deadly combat - the duel, later - for the
Olympic gold.
Three different kinds of fencing
are practiced today, each named for the type of weapon
used: foil,
épée and sabre.
The objective of fencing is to touch the valid target
with the point of the foil or épée, or
with the cutting edge and point of the sabre.

Fencing helps to acquire the reflexes
of a boxer, the legs of a vault jumper, and the
concentration of a chess-master. The sport develops
endurance, reaction, confidence and coordination. Fencing
is action-packed, and is known as the fastest martial sport
of them all.
But the best
thing about fencing is
- it’s fun!
